Carbon Reduction Plan 2026

Within our accommodation-based services, we will promote our goal to reach Net Zero by 2040 and cut emissions by 80% by 2036 through implementing the following practices.

These initiatives and their targets are overseen by the Chief of Operations and Registered Manag

Energy-Saving Initiatives

Room Heating

Heat only those rooms that are currently in use, reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
Implement smart heating systems or programmable thermostats to regulate room temperatures efficiently.

Airflow Management

Maintain optimum airflow throughout all premises to promote natural ventilation and reduce the need for artificial heating or cooling.
Install ventilation systems equipped with energy-efficient fans and filters to improve indoor air quality whilst minimising energy usage.

Insulation Excellence

Ensure insulation is installed correctly and meets British Board of Agrément (BBA) certification standards.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to identify and address any gaps or deficiencies in insulation, enhancing energy efficiency and thermal comfort.

By prioritising these energy-saving measures across our service provision, we not only minimise energy wastage but contribute to a more sustainable and eco-conscious environment.

Travel Initiatives

Green Travel Plan
We promote sustainable transportation to reduce carbon emissions by encouraging staff to walk, cycle, car-share or use public transport to travel to work. We actively encourage alternative transportation options and reduce reliance on single-occupancy vehicles.
Travel Planning Assistance
Staff are supported through the CM2000 system to plan daily travel arrangements using efficient routes, reducing travel time, fuel consumption and associated emissions.
Cycle to Work Scheme
The scheme provides incentives and support for staff to purchase bicycles and cycling equipment, making cycling a more accessible and affordable commuting option.
Infrastructure Support
Through our social value initiatives we advocate for infrastructure that supports sustainable transport, including cycle lanes, cycle paths, bike parking facilities, tree planting projects and recycling initiatives. We work with local authorities and community organisations to promote pedestrian-friendly environments and improve access to public transport.
Fleet and Route Optimisation
We operate a fleet of eco-friendly company-owned vehicles for urgent visits. GPS (Google Maps) is integrated within CM2000 to optimise rosters and calculate the shortest and most efficient routes between visits. Monthly mileage is monitored and reduction targets are reviewed annually.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Reduction of Single-Use Plastics

We prioritise staff training on reducing single-use plastics across office locations, supported accommodation and service-user environments.

Examples include:

Plastic medication cups replaced with durable, washable medication dispensers.
Disposable plastic containers replaced with reusable containers.
Exploration of reusable wound-care systems with washable components and breathable materials.

We are actively working to eliminate single-use plastics from our supply chain by 2027 through:

Compostable tea bags.
Refillable pens.
Plastic-free or refillable cleaning products.
Ink cartridge recycling schemes.
Reuse of glass bottles.
Biodegradable rubbish bags.

We also provide recyclable or compostable alternatives to plastic cutlery, straws and water bottles throughout our service locations.

Sustainable Procurement and Food Supply

We reduce emissions through:

Purchasing from local suppliers where possible.
Purchasing products with minimal or reusable packaging.
Recycling wherever facilities exist.
Providing clearly segregated waste and recycling bins.

Recycling and Waste Management

We utilise South-East London Local Recycling Centres and Business Waste Disposal Sites and partner with Riff Raff Rubbish to maximise recycling and responsible waste disposal.

Emissions Reduction Targets

2020 was adopted as LifeCome Care’s baseline year for measuring long-term carbon reduction performance.

The 2026 reporting year represents the first year of LifeCome Care’s formal Carbon Reduction Programme and emissions monitoring framework, supported by enhanced data collection and carbon-tracking systems.

Historical baseline emissions have been established using available operational data, energy consumption estimates, vehicle usage records and industry-standard carbon conversion factors.

Baseline Emissions Methodology

LifeCome Care has established the following targets:

Transition to an electric vehicle fleet by 2030.
Achieve Net Zero by 2040
Reduce carbon emissions by 80% against the 2020 baseline by 2036.
Eliminate single-use plastics by 2027.
Reduce paper consumption by 75%.
Invest in innovative Telehealth Devices and Systems.
Partner with Go Climate Positive to strengthen carbon measurement and reporting.

Carbon Monitoring and Reporting

During 2025/26 and beyond, LifeCome Care will continue to develop verified emissions reporting through:

Electricity and heating consumption monitoring.
Vehicle fuel usage and mileage records.
Staff travel and commuting information.
Waste management and recycling data.
Procurement and supply chain activity.
Property and accommodation-related energy usage.

The organisation will undertake annual measurement, reporting and review of Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions whilst continuously monitoring KPIs through Go Climate Positive tracking tools and internal governance processes.

Progress will be reviewed annually by the Chief of Operations and Registered Manager to ensure continued progress towards Net Zero and all published carbon reduction commitments.
